Project cargo lifting and transport
Project cargo is an oversized or heavy load that cannot be treated like a routine collection. The transport vehicle is only one part of the plan. The load may also need lifting, positioning, a suitable route and a clear handover at the destination. Defining those stages early helps reveal access and responsibility gaps before a move is booked.
Start with the load's confirmed dimensions, weight and centre of gravity where known, its lifting points, and the condition in which it can travel. Then check the collection and delivery sites, not just the distance between them.
Questions to settle before pricing
- Can the load reach the collection point, and is there space for the lifting and loading equipment?
- Who is responsible for packing, securing, permits and any route assessment?
- Are there height, width, weight, turning or ground-bearing constraints at either site?
- What happens at delivery: offloading only, or moving and positioning the load inside?
- What information and sign-off will the receiving team need at handover?
The answers determine which parts of the operation need further assessment. They also give suppliers a common scope to price, instead of relying on an incomplete description of the load.

Do not assume that road transport, lifting and installation are all included in one quotation. Ask for each responsibility and handover point to be stated clearly.
