Planning a factory relocation

A factory move is more than transporting equipment between two addresses. The useful starting point is a list of machines, their dimensions and weights, the order in which production needs them back, and the access available at both sites. That information helps identify what must be dismantled, lifted, transported, stored or reinstalled, and what can remain in operation during a phased move.

If you are comparing factory relocation services, ask how the proposed sequence deals with production downtime, site access and the handover of each machine. A single-machine move and a whole-site relocation need different plans.

What to prepare before a site visit

  • An equipment schedule with approximate weights, dimensions and any known lifting points.
  • Drawings or photographs of loading bays, doorways, floor levels and routes through both sites.
  • The preferred move window, production dependencies and any items that must move first.
  • Details of disconnection, reconnection, storage and commissioning responsibilities.
  • Any site-specific restrictions, such as vehicle access, working hours or shared routes.

These details allow the lifting and transport method to be discussed against the actual site, rather than assumed from the equipment list alone.

How the work fits together

Some projects need industrial machinery removals before equipment can leave the building. Others need a planned lift at a restricted access point. Our contract lifting service explains the separate planning and lifting scope. Where you want to see the kind of work involved, browse our lifting projects.

Before requesting a proposal, separate what your own engineers will disconnect and recommission from what the moving team is expected to handle. That makes the scope, programme and quotation easier to compare.

Discuss your move

Send us the equipment list, both site addresses and your preferred timescale. We can review the information with you and discuss which parts of the move need a closer survey. Use the enquiry form below, or contact the team.
